Scottsdale Spring Training

It’s that time of year. Spring training is fully underway in sunny Scottsdale at the recently constructed Salt River fields. It’s turning out to be an amazing facility for both fans and teams.

Salt River Fields

Voted the 2011 ballpark of the year.

It’s very easy to get to locally from Scottsdale and from pretty much anywhere in the Phoenix metro thanks to the proximity to the Loop 101.

Pre Game Lunch

Last year I wrote about 3 options nearby by for pre spring training lunch. Those remain very good options. If you want something more casual and super close by the is a sandwich shop right at Hayden just north of Via De Venture. Jimmy Johns is a chain / franchise but their sandwiches are delicious, and of course its fast if the first pitch is approaching.

Post Game Dinner

After the game if you fancy a yummy but good value early supper I recommend hitting up the happy hour at roaring fork. Here is a link to a pdf of the happy hour menu.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just a pre dinner snack. If you order the burger you will not leave hungry for sure, it’s massive!

The biggest challenge can be finding a seat in the bar area. But if you go straight from the game to Roaring Fork you should beat the 6 o’clock rush.

Stand out items on the menu for me are the tortilla soup, the bbq chicken flatbread and the fondue lamb chops.
