As a REALTOR based in North Scottsdale it never ceases to amaze me just how many people come to Arizona to purchase a second or vacation home. If you are just beginning you search how do you narrow down the areas you might be interested to search with a Real Estate Agent for property?
Well it’s a tough task that for sure because the Phoenix metro area is just over 9,000 square miles in area. That’s a lot of driving!
Here I’ll give you a few tips to help you narrow your search.
North Scottsdale
I am biased when I say North Scottsdale is my favorite area because that’s where I both live and help the majority of my clients find property. Some of the key developments in this area are Silverleaf, DC Ranch, McDowell Mountain Ranch, Troon, Windgate Ranch and Pima Acres.
North Scottsdale has a very broad range of properties ranging from 800 square feet condos to luxury estates over 20,000 sq ft. Trust me if you like great views, great neighbors and great real estate North Scottsdale is one of the first places to check.
Carefree / Cavecreek
Just a bit further to the north of the valley are the individual towns of Carefree and Cavecreek.
Carefree calls itself the best small town in Arizona. And many of the residents agree even there are still less than 4,000 today. But it seems so much more people in the restaurants when the snowbirds are in town, my tip to eat is the delightful Cafe Bink btw.
Cavecreek has a mix of old western tourist places and luxury golf condos. You’ll see the place rocking with Harley’s come Bike Week too.
Paradise Valley
My second favorite area in the Phoenix Metro area. Home to celebs and some seriously rockstar Real Estate. Almost every home in Paradise Valley is a custom build, especially now. Some seriously amazing estates are nestled into the Camelback and Mummy mountains. The best thing about Paradise Valley for me is the mix of tranquil luxury real estate and yet the closeness to the best shopping and dining Scottsdale and Phoenix has to offer. Also its just a zip down Tatum to Sky Harbor airport.
Paradise Valley has some great places to hang out including the coolest Starbucks in the Phoenix area which is inside the Camelback Inn just off Lincoln Drive.
Scottsdale Waterfront / Old Town
Probably the closest to that urban living style, where shopping, dining, arts and entertainment is the Old Town and Waterfront areas. With a host of new luxury condo developments and an aggressive redevelopment process coming to fruition there area is starting to attract lots of empty nesters who are down sizing from North Scottsdale or Paradise Valley and looking for the busy urban feel. Its not quite the West Village New York yet but who knows maybe its moving in the right direction. So if it’s urban condos you are considering it’s a place to check out.
These are the areas I tend to search for homes for my clients most but don’t forget other great places in Arizona like, Fountain Hills, Tucson, Flagstaff and the amazingly beautiful Sedona.
There’s so many great areas in Scottsdale and Phoenix that I suggest you include the areas I mentioned in your search and to really help narrow that search make sure to use a Real Estate professional to help you buy your dream vacation home.
